Before Safavid era Persian kings didn’t care much for preserving valuable possessions. More because the concept of museum or collection was not familiar to them. Although Safavid royals would send commissioners to buy and collect valuable jewels or stones.

However Afqans looted many of these valued stuff but Nader Shah brought them back in his attack to Afghanistan and India. Aside from Persian possessions in enemy’s’ hands, Indian king gave many jewelries to Nader Shah as trophy. But of course unfortunately many of these gifts never entered Iran. After Nader Shah the killing of Nader Shah one of his commanders robbed the treasury of royal jewels. He brought them back to his country where some of them like Kuh-i-Noor diamond never brought back to Iran. A famous and extremely valuable diamond which is now in possession of queen of great Britain.

In Qajar era the jewels were collected and artists used them to make amazing artwork. For instance Kiani crown, jeweled earth globe and Naderi throne. Back then they preserved royal jewelries in Golestan palace. In the time of Phlavi ruling they transferred them to one of halls in Golestan palace.
