Tomb of Saadi, Master of Speech

Tomb of Saadi, Master of Speech, is in Shiraz. The tomb area is a beautiful landscape and the building is in the middle of this garden. There is a large and semi-deep pool in fron of the tomb. People throw the coin in the pool according to an old tradition. Saadi,s garve is in an octagonal room with a high roof. There are seven inscriptions on its walls. Seven parts of the Bustan and Golestan are written on the blue tiles by Nastaliq. In the garden area they have ornamental flowers, beautiful trees and small ponds.

Fish pond

There is a deep pool in the garden that they call it Fish Pond. A very clear water passes through it. And there are several beautiful fishes in this pool. Also people throw coins in the pool according to an old tradition. Therefore, we usually find many coins on the floor of this pond. Its water is also filled with aqueduct that has a historical background.

About Saadi

Saadi is one of the most famous poets of Persian literature. His family were prominent scientists. He studied in Shiraz and Baghdad, however, he was often in journey. After education started his long trip that took about 40years.

This trip starts from Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Anatolia, Tripoli, North Africa, India, Turkestan, Kashmar and Balkh. After that, he finished his trip by coming back to Shiraz. As a result, the outcome of this long journey was to complete knowledge and experience. Finally, he spent the rest of his life in Shiraz. After that he arrenged for his two valuable books, Golestan and Bustan. Bustan contains the rules of life, practical wisdom and the rules of politics and tourism. Golestan includes Saadi,s seen and heard. In some anecdotes it depicts fear and insecurity of the world. Finally, he has died at 690 AH in his house that is the current Tomb.
