Iran is safe
Unlike what many people might think Iran is a perfectly safe travel destination. There is absolutely no war, conflict or riot going on in any cities of Iran. Probably the only thing that isn’t shown in media regarding Iran is the peace and fun that is going on in every city.
Of course, nobody can’t deny the economic problems and sanctions that affect Iranians’ lives. But daily life is normally and almost happily is going on among Iranians. This is something you can’t believe unless you see with your own eyes.
Hijab in Iran
Another Iran travel advisory is about Hijab. Of course wearing Hijab is a law in Iran. You have to cover your hair, you can’t wear sleeveless tops, shorts or short skirts. Although all these might seem a great burden for those not used to eat. But actually you don’t have to be so hard on yourself. If traveling in summer wears a loose and thin scarf on the shawl to cover your hair.
Don’t worry if you saw it slipping constantly. Everyone understands you don’t know how to wear it and nobody is going to blame you for that.
What to wear?
You can wear a variety of clothing from jeans (and even tight ones), long and loose skirts or a shorter one with pantyhose along with tonics or a shirt. Men also can’t wear shorts but anything else is almost okay. Even sleeveless shirts. You can also search for everyday clothing of Iranians to get some clue on what to wear.
Drinking or possession of alcoholic drinks is against Iran Islamic Republic of Iran. So you can’t have wine, beer or any other kind of alcoholic drink during your travel to Iran.
Instead, take some time of alcohol and have a taste of different kinds of Iranian traditional drinks and sorbets. It might surprise you or even change your mind about drinking alcohol.
Unfortunately due to sanctions Visa, Master or any other credit card is not efficient in Iran. It is advisable that you have cash. But recently you can also get some kind of tourist credit card from Iranian banks.
Of course there some rules for US citizens traveling to Iran but if you contact a credible travel agency in Iran and plan ahead your travel there is absolutely no problem to get Iran visa and travel to Iran.
As a US citizen, you have to have a pre-planned itinerary. So take about three months before the date you are willing to travel to go through the route, travel services and budget with a trusted travel agency. Then you will apply for Iran visa through that agency and the rest of the trip is just perfectly normal.
