Start of Persepolis restoration by Archaeology without borders

Start of Persepolis restoration by Archaeology without borders. Italian Archaeologists and restoration team started working on damaged parts of Persepolis. Soon the team of Archaeology without borders start working on Tachar palace and Council hall. This period of restoration is going to take 6 months. An Iranian team is also going to cooperate with them. The process involves cleansing the residue and revising the former restorations.

This is the second season of Persepolis restoration. Before the first season ended in summer. These process of restorations are according to an agreement with Iran’s cultural heritage Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran. Authorities included that this process of restoration is not for rebuilding but for preserving. So its only an effort to decrease more destruction of Persepolis.

The purpose of Archaeology without borders is to support education of archaeologists and expanding training in developing countries. They also try to strengthen international bonds between archaeology students around the world. Hops for preserving Persepolis increases with start of Persepolis restoration by Archaeology without borders.

Tachar Palace

The special palace of Darius the great is among the first found constructions of Persepolis. It means winter house. Although there is no evidence that this palace was winter palace of Darius. There are inscriptions from Darius the first, Xerxes and other Acheamenid kings in this palace.

Council Hall

This palace also has other names such as three doors palace, gate of kings or central palace. The palace reaches to other parts of Persepolis by three gateways and various corridors. There are images of Persian commanders on the wall of palace in a meeting. According to this evidence and also the function of palace they call it council hall.
