Eram Garden in Shiraz is a national botanical garden. Shiraz has long been known for having beautiful gardens. One of the most beautiful and special of these gardens is the Eram garden. Seeing this garden every season has its own beauty and charm. Spring and specially May is the most spectacular season to see Eram Garden. Eram garden of Shiraz along with eight other Iranian Gardens, was registered in UNESCO world heritage list of Iran as the Persian gardens at the thirty-fifth meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee on 06 July 2011.

The architecture of the garden Mansion is of Qajar style and imitated the style of Zandieh architecture. The Mansion is a masterpiece of Qajar architecture in terms of architecture, painting, tiling and plastering. In front of the main Mansion that is overlooking the garden, there is a large pool with the image of the Mansion in it. The garden is over three acres with different trees for instance, citrus and cedar trees.

History of Eram Garden

Eram garden certainly, backs to Seljuq dynasty and its owners were rulers of Shiraz in all Seljuq, Injuids, Mozaffarids and Mughal empires. In all these times the garden was prospers and glorious. As the writings of tourists this garden was glorious from the Safavid Era onwards. In zandieh time also the owners of garden were rulers and like other buildings and gardens in Shiraz the rulers restored it. Since the late Zandieh Period about seventy five years it was in the hands of the Qashqai tribe leaders. They used there as their command headquarters in the city of Shiraz. In Qajar period the existing building built in the garden. After Qajar period the government take it over and after that transferred to Shiraz University. Now the usage of the garden is as a botanical garden.
